Privacy

This site collects personal information in two places, the contact form and the newsletter signup, and counts visits with its own first-party analytics. This page says what each collects, why, and how to have it deleted.

What the contact form collects

  • Your name and work email.
  • Your organization, if you give it.
  • What you need, and what you write about your project.
  • How you heard about us, if you choose to say.
  • To stop spam: your browser’s description of itself (its user agent) and a scrambled code made from your internet address. The address itself is never stored, and the code is only used to limit how many messages one connection can send in an hour.

What the newsletter signup collects

  • Your work email, and your first name, firm and province if you give them.
  • The wording you agreed to and when, and when you confirmed by clicking the link we email you. Nothing is sent until you confirm, and every issue has an unsubscribe link.
  • Our newsletter records when an email is opened and which links are clicked, to see what’s useful. Our one-to-one emails are not tracked.

Why we collect it

  • To reply to your enquiry and talk with you about your project.
  • To keep a record of our conversations with you and your organization in our client records.
  • We don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for anything else.

Website analytics

  • We count visits to this site with our own first-party analytics (a random visitor ID in a cookie; we never store your IP address). If you send us an enquiry, the pages you viewed before are linked to it so we understand what you need. We don’t use third-party ad or tracking cookies. Turning on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser stops this tracking.

Questions to Forest

  • Forest, the guide at the bottom right of this site, answers from this site’s pages, the app’s help pages and the public rules table only. He can’t see any project, client or First Nation information.
  • To write an answer, your question and the pages it matches go to our AI model provider. We keep your question and Forest’s answer for 30 days, without your IP address, then delete them. With Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control on, you still get an answer and nothing is kept.
  • To limit how many questions one visitor can ask, your browser keeps a random ID for Forest, and we count questions from your network for one day using a one-way code made from your IP address, never the address itself.

Where it is kept

  • In our database, hosted in Canada.
  • When you send the form, a copy goes by email to our team through our email delivery provider.
  • Only our own staff can read enquiries.

Seeing, correcting or deleting it

Email us at the address below to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We’ll confirm when it’s done.
